Hello, and thank you for being here! I'm Simone.

A Pilates teacher navigating midlife, passionately committed to the transformative power of movement. At 38, I experienced unexpected, permanent hearing loss, which left me feeling unbalanced, afraid, and disconnected from my world. At the time, I was juggling a demanding university schedule, a young child, and an intense workload. The hearing loss felt like the final straw. In the midst of this, I found Pilates—or rather, Pilates found me. What began as a way to rebuild my balance became a gift that strengthened my body, calmed my mind, built my self-efficacy and shaped my health trajectory.

Pilates became my sanctuary, allowing me to rebuild both physically and mentally. Inspired by my journey, I created Simone Hopkins Pilates as a space where midlife women are seen and valued—a place to reconnect, grow stronger, and reclaim their confidence in an environment that respects their evolving needs.

I was diagnosed with permanent unilateral hearing loss shortly before my fortieth birthday which significantly altered the trajectory of my life. The prognosis confirmed that my balance would inevitably decline, leading to serious implications for my overall health and quality of life. This diagnosis, combined with the prevailing belief that aging limits the body’s ability to grow strong and heal, filled me with a profound sense of confinement and anxiety about my future. However, in a deliberate act of defiance against this narrative, I resolved to reclaim agency over my body and redefine my health journey.

It was during this pivotal time that I discovered Pilates. What began as a simple choice soon blossomed into a profound journey of transformation. Through dedicated movement and intentional breath, I developed a deep appreciation for my body and embraced its capacity for change. Each class not only addressed my balance issues but also fostered strength and confidence within me.

As I gradually regained my balance, the anxiety stemming from my initial prognosis dissipated, giving way to resilience and self-assurance. I began to challenge the pervasive belief that midlife women are past their prime, uncovering a world of possibilities that encouraged me to embrace a vibrant new chapter in my life.

Recognizing the unique challenges and opportunities of this stage of life, I provide movement tools and resources designed to help you nurture a stronger connection with yourself. Together, we will redefine what it means to age actively, weaving a compassionate narrative that is rich in strength, potential, and an indomitable spirit.
